This is a little out of sequence but just I remembered it this morning. This will be quick.
Monday, our first day out sailing across the channel to Norman Island. Once we arrived we needed to get Skipper Billy to the dock so he could get the ferry back to Tortola. A simple dingy ride to the dock in the Bight. Billy and I hopped into the dingy, I started it up and we were on our way. We cruised along and were about half way when the motor stopped. Curious. I tried to start it again and nothing. Then we both looked at each other with the same surprised realization – we left the gas tank in the lazz. It had been placed there before departing Road Town as a safe place given the weather conditions. Duh! Luckily there were paddles. Ten minutes later we were back in the dingy again, fueled and heading to the dock as intended. Situational awareness.
