Note- some pictures maybe miss oriented. Something to bring up with WordPress
Just shortly two amazing nights in the middle of the desert.
After winding through the mountains and the Drâa Valley stopping in Zagora to pick up a lunch for later we went off road for a good 2 hours. Nothing smooth about the drive but gorgeous. We stopped for a brief lunch under a tamerac tree and shade. Then continuing on for another hour we started seeing nothing but sand and increasing larger and larger dunes. Throughout the drive we crossed the wide dry river need a number of times.
We then arrived at the camp in the Erg Chigaga desert. A collection of tents arranged around a central area and fire pit, singing tent, and various hammock tents all with Berber carpets scattered for floors. This is what the carpets are made for, full of sand they serve their purpose of creating a floor and keeping sand down. Amazing how much these things cost in the states.
Tempted to roll one up and bringing it home. Sand and all.
The dunes were incredible. The light shifted throughout the day making for some great pictures. We spend most of one day sitting, relaxing and reading. Was hot as hell in the sun but amazingly cool when covered. The wind was coming from the west near the ocean and made a huge difference.
